Junior Crew

On March 9, 1969, the Waynesboro First Aid Crew amended its bylaws authorizing the formation of the Waynesboro Junior First Aid Crew. Later that month, on March 27, the new bylaw was approved by the Senior membership. To recruit juniors, the Crew held an open house on April 20 for area youth ages fifteen to twenty. On June 9, 1969 the charter for the Junior Crew was received and the first officers of the Junior Crew were elected.

There were fourteen charter members. Douglas Wright was elected President; Richard Hutson, Vice President; Michael Roberts, Captain; Dennis Simmers, First Lieutenant; Warren "Rusty" Johnson, Secretary and Treasurer; Paul Glovier, Chaplain; and Charlie Coker, Publicity Director. The other charter members were David Claytor, Marty Duncan, Kim Fauber, Tim Foster, Thomas McComas, Joseph O'Brien, and Harry Ramsey. The Junior Crew was organized by four Senior members: Roger Roberts, A.D. Berry, Jack Plummer, and Jim Roberts.

Today the Junior Crew consists of members between the ages of 16 and 21. All Juniors are required to become certified as EMT-B's, and are eligible to serve as attendants-in-charge at age 18. In addition, many Juniors are certified in EVOC and serve as drivers.
